“Did ya'll see that?”- Legendary Cowboys WR Michael Irvin shares hilarious reaction after Israel Adesanya’s iconic win at UFC 287
Last night at UFC 287, middleweight Israel Adesanya re-claimed his title as he recorded a sensational second-round KO over Alex Pereira.
On November 12, 2022, Adesanya lost the middleweight title as Pereira scored a fifth-round TKO to take Adesanya's belt from him.
Adesanya landed a counter in the second round that wobbled Pereira, and then he followed up with another shot that dropped him, followed up with a hammer first that put Pereira to sleep.
Pro Football Hall-of-Fame wide receiver and former Dallas Cowboys' star Michael Irvin was like most fans and hyped upon seeing Adesanya's knockout.
Irvin posted a video on Twitter of him celebrating the victory with a few fans in Brazil reliving the iconic knockout.
"Did ya'll see that? I found a spot in Brazil to watch the fight. Oh my God, I don't even know these jokers, but we watched the fight together, and now we all thought, Oh, my God, we're going to have a three, we're going to have a three and we all decided before the fight, if there's a three, we're all going to it together."
Irvin is right and there could be a third fight between Pereira and Adesanya.
Pereira accepted an immediate rematch after defeating Adesanya by TKO, and the UFC could set up another rematch between the two to settle the score.
Pereira could move up to the light heavyweight division as cutting down to 185 lbs. at middleweight takes a toll on his body.
Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira's rivalry dates back before the UFC
Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira's rivalry may be the best in all of combat sports history. Last night was the second time the two fought in the UFC but it was the fourth time in their careers fighting one another.
The two fought in Glory kickboxing before they both made the transition to MMA.
Pereira defeated Adesanya the first time they met in 2016 when he beat him by unanimous decision in a three-round fight.
The next time they met, Pereira KO'd Adesanya cold in 2017 via a left hook.
When the two met years later this past October, Pereira defeated him via TKO in the fifth-round of a fight that Adesanya was controlling the pace of.
Last night, Adesanya got his revenge as he finally beat Pereira in dramatic fashion, while re-claiming the middleweight belt.
