Diontae Johnson landing spots: 3 teams who should pursue Ravens WR amid uncertain future

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Diontae Johnson is facing an uncertain future with the team. With the Ravens entering a bye week in Week 14, it was announced on Wednesday that Johnson would be suspended for the team's next game, against the Giants in Week 15, for conduct detrimental to the team.

Johnson allegedly refused to enter the Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Many fans on Twitter had noticed that he had no snaps during the contest, but it has now been revealed that the receiver stayed on the sideline on his own.

The Ravens acquired him in a trade and he has already worn out his welcome. Check out three teams that could pursue a move in case Baltimore decides to release him:

3 teams that could go after Diontae Johnson if he's released

#1 - Dallas Cowboys

A lot has gone wrong for the Cowboys since the start of the offseason, from Jerry Jones' roster building to injuries derailing their season. By adding a new wide receiver, they could see him closely and decide if he's good enough to have a role on the team in 2025.

Johnson has already been touted as a possibility for the team multiple times, but he has never been available in free agency. Since the trade deadline is gone, Jerry Jones could hold him for a few weeks and take a closer look.

#2 - San Francisco 49ers

The same logic applies to the San Francisco 49ers, who will look for upgrades at the wide receiver room in 2025 with rookie Ricky Pearsall struggling (63 routes and 0 catches over the past three games) and Deebo Samuel set to be released for salary cap purposes.

No one will expect Johnson to compete with Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle for targets, but he does possess a different profile from these guys. He could use his route-running and body control to make contested catches, something that Aiyuk is not primed to do.

#3 - Kansas City Chiefs

There's also the possibility of joining a contender team to maybe get his first ring, a route that many veteran players do and the Chiefs are signatories. As a veteran backup, he would be ready to play in case something happens with their best receivers, and a safe backup option is always important.

This year, he has had 363 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and although he has had problems with both the Ravens and the Carolina Panthers, a short stint chasing a ring could see him refocus.
