Does DeAndre Hopkins have a no-trade clause? Exploring star WR’s trade possibilities
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is available on the trade block and several teams are interested in getting him for their team. Hopkins, one of the game's best receivers, wants to play on a contending team and can soon get his wish fulfilled.
A no-trade clause in Hopkins' contract enabled him to choose the team to which he could be traded. However, there has been a change to that clause which has altered several possibilities.
DeAndre Hopkins no-trade clause
The no-trade clause in Hopkins' contract was voided after he was suspended for the first six games of the 2022 season. He was suspended for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy.
As a result, any team can easily trade for the star receiver if they are able to meet the asking price of the Arizona Cardinals.
DeAndre Hopkins is also linked to Buffalo Bills
Hopkins is now being linked to the Buffalo Bills as well, as the AFC East team tries to add another established talent to their team. The Bills have an interest in Odell Beckham Jr. as well, and it's possible that they'll end up signing one of the two veteran receivers that are currently available.
Hopkins recently shared an Instagram story as well in which the "Buffalo Soldier" song was playing, which led many fans to speculate over whether or not the Cardinals WR will be joining Josh Allen's team.
Hopkins may be moved for a package that is comparable to the one that was offered for Brandin Cooks, and a number of teams are in a position where they can easily afford to meet that asking price for the former Texans receiver.
There have been rumors that teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens are interested in getting him, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Last season, Hopkins had 64 catches for 717 yards and scored three touchdowns in nine games.
