Every NFL reference from Drake's album feat. Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens and Robert Kraft
Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens feature heavily in a song from Drake's new album. The NFL franchise, along with other NFL references, appeared to be front of mind for the rapper in his song 'Middle of the Ocean' from the album 'Her Loss.'
Drake, along with 21 Savage, made sure to reference the Baltimore Ravens in 'Middle of the Ocean'. They also make mention of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
Here are a few lines that reference the NFL's elite, per www.baltimoresun.com.
“Big Benjamins like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Drake, you got it. Robert Kraft sent the jet for us. That [expletive] was patriotic. You would think we live in Baltimore, the way they Raven ‘bout the latest product.”
That is one verse of the song. We assume that the line "bout the latest product" is in reference to the blockbuster move the Ravens made on NFL trade deadline day.
They made perhaps the biggest move, acquiring Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith. Adding the 25-year-old superstar to a defense that is giving up 22.9 points per game and has the seventh-highest sack total (23) was a seriously good move. It appears that Drake recognizes that, too.
The song brought some nice attention to the NFL and the Ravens. Currently, first in the AFC North and on a two-game winning streak, things are looking up for Lamar Jackson and his team.
Did the Baltimore Ravens get an extra push with Drake's mention?
It is likely not to bring anything significant to the table football-wise, but pre-game, Baltimore players may just have 'Middle of the Ocean' blaring in the locker room.
The Ravens' start to the season has been up and down as they've gone win, loss, win, loss, win, loss before winning back-to-back games. It is thought that, now, John Harbaugh's team is cherry-ripe for a playoff run.
A 5-3 record after eight games has them sitting nicely. The strength of the schedule isn't too bad either. They face the Panthers, Jaguars, Falcons and Steelers in the run home, all of which they are expected to win.
After finishing bottom of the division last year with an 8-9 record (Jackson was injured and missed time at the end of the season), the Baltimore Ravens appears to be back on track.
Getting to the postseason will be job number one for Jackson and Harbaugh and with their running style. They will be a tough match-up for any team. Oh, and they might have Drake's song pumping pre-game, too.
