Fantasy Football Week 2 Trade Targets: Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers and more
We’ve only played one game in this NFL season, and already, people are making sweeping judgments about players and teams for fantasy football week 2. Oftentimes, these are misguided and bite fantasy owners in the rear. But these irrational owners in your fantasy leagues create buying opportunities for savvy players.
I will give you players to buy and sell across fantasy football each week. Some are long-term plays that have an eye towards the playoffs. A few are short window trades that help you win now. You know your league better than anyone. Finally, stop trying to “win” every trade. That is nonsense. It’s about making your team better. That’s all. If you make a trade, is your roster better? If it’s not, don’t do it. OK, let’s get into it.
Fantasy Football Week 2 Trade Targets: Which players to buy
1 - Chris Olave (WR, Saints)
While everyone on the Saints seemingly went off in their easy Week 1 win over Carolina, Olave was quiet. He managed just 3.1 fantasy points on two catches. That’s the worst he’ll do all season. If someone wants to give up a stud like Olave, move Heaven and Earth to get him. This new Saints offense under Clint Kubiak is infinitely better than the junk they put on the field over the Pete Carmichael era. Olave played the most snaps of any Saints WR. This was a fluke. Buy Olave before his owner realizes what a superstar he is. I’d be willing to send him an RB2 or package a pair of players.
2 - Malik Nabers (WR, Giants)
Everyone is beating up on the lowly Giants right now, and for good reason. They are poorly run and don’t have a quarterback. That said, Nabers is an absolute baller. If his floor is five catches for 66 yards, we’re in good shape. He’s going to get force-fed targets on a regular basis. Per Fantasy Points Data, Nabers tied for the league high in routes run per dropback at 98%. Convince your league mate that Nabers was overhyped and isn’t really that good. Get him for someone like Rashid Shaheed, who isn’t in the same stratosphere at Nabers. Collecting elite talent is what we do. Get Nabers.
3 - J.K. Dobbins (RB, Chargers)
Nobody saw this coming. Oh wait, I did. Gus Edwards is just a guy. He’s not anyone that a team wants to lean on. Dobbins is 10 times more talented than the Gus Bus. I’m so happy to see Dobbins come through in his Chargers debut. I want you to have Dobbins (while he’s healthy) on your roster as an upside flex who is going to have an opportunity to rush for 100 yards every week in this ground and pound Los Angeles offense. I don’t want you to overpay, though. Dobbins is an injury waiting to happen. Be careful with your offers. But he’s fantastic for RB depth and will see the ball every week.
Other players to buy: Marvin Harrison Jr., Devonta Smith, Jordan Love, and Ja’Marr Chase.
Fantasy Football Week 2: Which players to trade away
1 - Jayden Daniels (QB, Commanders)
QB 3 in fantasy points for Week 3 had those who drafted him feeling on cloud nine. Now I want you to sell him. This Washington offense is a joke. There’s little to no talent and I can’t expect a 6’4” 210 pound quarterback to hold up to the pounding he will take if he rushes for 16 carries per week. If you drafted Daniels I’m sure he’s not the only QB on your roster. Flip him to the Jordan Love owner for an upgrade at WR or RB.
2 - Zamir White (RB, Raiders)
It’s over for White. Get out now. Pray you can send him to someone desperate for a running back. His counterpart Alexander Mattison played on 13 of 14 third downs. White is a near zero in the passing game. That doesn’t bode well for a back on a team who stands to be trailing in the majority of their games.
3 - Javonte Williams (RB, Broncos)
Another back on a terrible team. The offensive line is garbage. The QB isn’t ready for prime time. There are just so many red flags here. While the Broncos did place rookie runner Audric Estime on IR Wednesday, the vibes here are brutally bad. I’d rather have Jaleel McLaughlin because I know Sean Payton picked him. Williams’ stock is sinking on a poor offense that wants to feature anyone but him.
