Former Packers star Davante Adams bashes new Raiders teammates, questions commitment towards winning

The Las Vegas Raiders have not had the season they envisioned when they added Davante Adams to a roster that made the playoffs last year. They're currently 2-7 and in last place in the AFC West.

They also hired Josh McDaniels and that hasn't worked out yet. According to the Athletic, Adams believes many of his teammates aren't listening to their new coach:

“Just don’t have enough guys that are fully bought in. I don’t think people are like, you know, ‘F what (McDaniels) is talking about’ or ‘I’m going against the grain.’ It’s just a matter of executing when it’s time… It means playing a complete game, every minute of the game, giving it everything you’ve got… It’s doing your job and making the plays when you’re called on and get the opportunities, and we just don’t do that at a high enough level right now.”

Adams' college teammate and current quarterback Derek Carr said that he loves McDaniels:

“I love Josh … I love our coaches. They’ve had nothing but success, way more success than I have ever had. And uh … I’m sorry … I’m sorry for being emotional. I’m just pissed off. Some of the things that a lot of us try to do just to practice, what we put our bodies through just to sleep at night, and for that to be the result of all that effort? It pisses me off. It pisses a lot of guys off."

It's unlikely that McDaniels will be fired any time soon, as he has been one of the top head coaching candidates for years. However, this is not what the Raiders brass envisioned for this season.

Is there a shot that the Raiders can get to the playoffs in Adams' first year?

Based on FiveThirtyEight's playoff projections model, the Raiders are dead in the water. At 2-7, they have a miniscule 1% chance of making the playoffs. As for winning the division or anything else, it's less than that.

The team lost seven games last season when they went 10-7 and made the playoffs. To match that, they would have to win out, something there is no reason to believe will happen. It's been a struggle thus far, and it doesn't look like it's getting any better.

We will see if Las Vegas can pull off a miracle in the coming months.
