Gauging Haason Reddick's top 3 landing spots with Jets DE on the trade block

New York Jets pass rusher Haason Reddick's tale has been a confounding one, with several analysts labelling it one of the most puzzling holdouts in NFL history.

Since being traded to the Jets in March this year, Reddick has yet to play a single snap for the franchise and reportedly submitted a trade request in August after being left unfulfilled with the deal that was on the table. Since then, Reddick's former agency CAA pulled the plug on representing him. Super agent Drew Rosenhaus took over from CAA and attended the Jets' Monday Night Football showdown against the Buffalo Bills which ended in a fourth loss for the Jets.

On Tuesday morning, October 15, The Athletic's NFL insider Dianna Russini reported that Rosenhaus has been granted a short window to seek a trade away from the Jets. Now that you're all caught up with the tale of Haason Reddick's holdout, here's which teams make the best landing spots for the wantaway defensive end.

1] Detroit Lions

As of Week 7, the Lions make the most sense for Reddick. Defensive Player of the Year candidate Aidan Hutchinson suffered a horror injury in the blowout Week 6 win over the Dallas Cowboys, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

The Lions clearly look like the best team in the NFL but it's difficult to see the defense keep the pace without Hutchinson, who is arguably the best rusher in the National Football League.

Enter Haason Reddick, who has been jonesing for a change of scenery. Per Spotrac, Detroit has $33.9 million in cap space which is enough room to make Reddick a long-term investment even after Hutchinson is back from injury. Would a third-round pick do the trick?

2] Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals had just 33 sacks as a team last season which just isn't enough to cut it in the NFL. The main obstacle here is, of course, whether Reddick would want to make a return to the franchise that drafted him, given the circumstances of his exit.

However, there is now a new regime led by head coach Jonathan Gannon (who was the Eagles defensive coordinator when Reddick recorded a career-high of 16 sacks in 2022). The Jets won't get anywhere near the return they were hoping for with Reddick but the Cardinals could certainly test the waters given the state of their defense this year.

3] Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are in desperate need of help on defense. The offense has been able to hold its own but Cincinnati just can't keep getting into shootouts like they did against the Baltimore Ravens.

Trey Hendrickson is the leading rusher on this roster but he could certainly use some help on that front.

The problem is that the Bengals currently do not have enough cap space to accommodate Reddick's base salary of $14.3 million so they will have to shed some salary before trading for the Jets pass rusher.
