Steve Young's 1994 NFL MVP season

Young started the season in spectacular fashion, throwing for 308 yards and four touchdowns in a 44-14 win over the Los Angeles Raiders, where he also added 51 rushing yards. The following week, he lost to the man he was back up to for many years, Joe Montana, and the Kansas City Chiefs, throwing two picks in arguably the worst game of his season.

One of Young's most memorable games of the season came in Week 7 when the San Francisco 49ers faced off against the Atlanta Falcons. In that game, Young completed 93% of his passes and threw four touchdowns, leading the 49ers to a 42-3 victory. He also had a passer rating of 143.5, one of the highest of his career.

Another memorable game for Young came in Week 12 when the 49ers faced off against the Los Angeles Rams. Young threw for 325 yards and four touchdowns in that game, leading the 49ers to a 31-27 victory. He also had four touchdowns against the Rams in Week 3 (two passing and two rushing).

Young perhaps outdid that performance the following week when the 49ers faced off against the Falcons again. In that game, Young threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns, also rushing for two touchdowns, leading the 49ers to a 50-14 victory.

Steve Young had led the NFL in passer rating four straight years and won the 1994 MVP.

But the @49ers QB still remained somewhat in the shadow of Joe Montana, criticized for "not being able to win the big game."

He also had a passer rating of 112.8, which broke the record at the time. He led the 49ers to their fifth Super Bowl victory and was named the Super Bowl XXIX MVP.

Young's 1994 season is considered one of the best quarterback seasons in NFL history and solidified his place as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
