Houston Texans Week 16 injury report: Latest on Joe Mixon, Christian Harris and moreĀ
The Houston Texans play the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16 of the 2024 NFL season on Saturday. The AFC South squad has won three of the last four duels, sitting atop the division with a 9-5 record ahead of the Indianapolis Colts (6-8).
They are still in charge of their fate and a win against Kansas City would put them closer to making the postseason. Joe Mixon showed up on the injury report this week with an ankle issue, as well as Christian Harris and Nick Broeker.
Houston Texans injury report ahead of Week 16
Veteran running back Joe Mixon was bothered by an ankle issue and was a limited participant on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday's practice sessions. He has no designation for this matchup and should be carrying the heavier load among running backs.
DT Foley Fatukasi, WR John Metchie III, C/G Juice Scruggs and TE Cade Stover were ruled out for this duel. Linebacker Christian Harris (ankle) has been listed as questionable for Saturday's matchup.
Del'Shawn Phillips, Kenyon Green, Davis Mills and Nick Broeker have no designation for the game.
Mixon is projected to tally 16.1 fantasy points this week, to go along with 65.7 rushing yards, 2.7 receptions and 20.5 rushing yards against the Chiefs.
The Texans are entering a crucial moment for their season and their next two opponents could give them a boost to enter the postseason. After the Chiefs matchup, they will clash against the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of their 2023 divisional round duel.
After the Ravens, they will face off against the Tennessee Titans to finish the regular season. CJ Stroud and Co. haven't been as consistent as last year, but they are still a dangerous team and if they heat up at the right time, the AFC favorites, namely the Chiefs, Bills and even the Steelers, could have a hard time beating this team.
Joe Mixon is a solid option at RB2 for fantasy managers and could be an RB1 if he manages to get through the Chiefs' defense. He's caught 32 passes in 11 games to become a dual threat for his squad.
The Texans-Chiefs game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. ET. at Arrowhead Stadium. This matchup has everything to be electrifying and to bring a lot of emotions to fans watching at home.
