Hunter Henry or Dalton Kincaid Week 9 Start 'Em Sit 'Em Fantasy Projections and Picks
We're near the halfway mark of the season but are yet to see any semblance of consistency when it comes to production from tight ends. If you have Brock Bowers on your roster, you're safe, but it appears to be a coin toss when it comes to most top tight tends.
Heading into this season, Buffalo Bills star Dalton Kincaid was projected as a high-value pick, especially with the franchise trading Stefon Diggs to Houston and allowing Gabe Davis to walk in free agency. While that hasn't come to pass, National Tight Ends Day was a pretty productive one for Kincaid. But, can he keep it going this week against the Miami Dolphins?
Dalton Kincaid fantasy outlook for Week 9
Kincaid had four catches on seven targts for 31 yards and a touchdown as the Bills registered an easy 31-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks. That touchdown saved the day for Kincaid owners in fantasy, but, otherwise, it wasn't all that great. Kincaid's tight end colleague Dawson Knox (50) registered more yards on just two receptions.
The good news is that after a slow start to the season, Kincaid has been getting between six and seven targets on the regular. In Week 8 against Seattle, he was tied for second in targets, behind Khalil Shakir.
The downside is that the Bills face the Dolphins on Sunday, and Miami gives up the seventh-fewest fantasy points to tight ends. It's not quite a winning matchup by any measure, but given how volatile the position has been, you might just be stuck with Kincaid if you don't have any options.
Hunter Henry fantasy outlook for Week 9
If you don't have Hunter Henry on your roster, you need to go out and make a convincing offer. So far, Raiders rookie Brock Bowers has been the only consistent TE (although Mark Andrews is also getting there after a slow start).
Yes, there are a few more TEs you can bank on for points, like Kyle Pitts and Trey McBride, but most of the big names will likely be unattainable unless someone's fantasy run is off the rails.
Since Drake Maye took over, Henry has seen his targets increase. Over the last three games, the Patriots TE has at least five targets and 41 receiving yards.
The Maye-Henry connection is starting to develop slowly but surely. And with most of the Patriots wide receivers disinterested in catching the ball, Maye has turned to Henry even more when the chips are down.
Heading into the Week 9 matchup with the Tennessee Titans, at a stretch, Henry has lowkey TE1 potential. He should also be your go-to choice if your TE1 is on a bye or just hasn't produced at any level so far.
Hunter Henry vs Dalton Kincaid Week 9 projection
Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Optimizer is higher on Kincaid this week despite a tough matchup with the Dolphins.
Nevertheless, the Dolphins are in desperate need of a win. Miami's defense hasn't suffered much of a fall-off this year and is known for locking tight ends down.
