Missouri Congressman takes a savage swipe at Bengals, Cincinnati mayor following their AFC Championship loss to Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in the AFC Championship game to head to Super Bowl 2023. There was a lot leading up to the game as Cincinnati mayor Aftab Pureval came after Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes. U.S. Congressman Mark Alford spoke on the Chiefs' win while taking a shot at both Pureval and Bengals cornerback Eli Apple during a speech.

Alford said:

"Despite having the referees against them the entire game, the chiefs made short work of the bungles — I mean Bengals. I hope Eli Apple has fun in Cancun. I also hope that Mayor Jabroni and the rest of the Cincinnati fan base learned a valuable lesson"
Congratulations to MY Kansas City Chiefs!

Thank you @PatrickMahomes, @tkelce, and Joseph Ossai for their efforts last night.

Last week, Apple trolled Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs after the Bengals defeated the Bills in the AFC Divisional round:

Not to be outdone: Brittany Mahomes, the wife of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, sent out a message to troll Apple in return:

Pureval declared "They Gotta Play Us Day" in Cincinnati on the day of the AFC Championship game. In his proclamation, the mayor spoke on Mahomes and his then 0-3 record against Joe Burrow. He quipped that officials had asked Burrow to take a paternity test to verify whether Burrow was Mahomes' father.

As for Pureval and his comments, All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce had a response during the AFC Championship trophy ceremony.

Travis Kelce responded to Pureval's comments after Chiefs victory

The tight end was on stage at Arrowhead Stadium and decided to cut a WWE-like promo on Pureval during the AFC Championship trophy ceremony.

Kelce said:

"I’ve got some wise words for that Cincinnati mayor. Know your role and shut your mouth, you jabroni!"

The Kansas City quarterback also spoke on the Cincinnati mayor’s comments in the postgame press conference.

Mahomes said:

"The mayor came at me, man. He’s the mayor of Cincinnati, so he’s gotta think about something."

Patrick Mahomes threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns in the game, getting his first career win over Joe Burrow. We'll see if Kansas City can win their second Lombardi trophy in four seasons in Super Bowl 2023.
