"I love playing with the guys": When Tom Brady displayed class dismissing rumors of sour relationship with HC Bruce Arians
Widely regarded as the NFL GOAT, Tom Brady enjoyed two decades of greatness with the Patriots before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. Things didn’t go too well immediately after he joined the Bucs, as the franchise struggled early in the 2020 season. A third loss in four weeks left the Bucs with a 7-5 record heading into a Week 13 bye, and a frustrated Brady was on a journey to prove his mettle again.
This was evident when Brady was bombarded with questions over his relationship with coach Bruce Arians after a loss to the Chiefs on Nov. 29, 2020. But Brady kept calm and displayed class.
“It's just external noise that when you are losing, that's what you deal with,” he further added, “I love playing with the guys that I play with, the coaches, and the whole organization that has been unbelievable.”
Tom Brady brushed off rumors of beef between him and Bruce Arians
Right before the clash with Kansas City on Nov. 29, former Patriots teammate Rob Ninkovich said on Nov. 27's edition of ESPN's "Get Up" that Tom Brady should be looking for a new coach. So, the reporters took the opportunity to clarify Brady’s stand on the same. But Brady responded calmly while rejecting such claims.
Back in 2020, when Brady snapped his relationship with long-time coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots, he made a hard choice to go to a new franchise.
Brady’s issues with his previous coach were acting as a catalyst to the situation as the GOAT had left his previous team due to reported personal issues. Hence, Brady’s frustrations were expected since he was on a determined route to prove his greatness again, but without Belichick and the Patriots.
Tom Brady accepted his responsibility to play better
Tom Brady was humble and accepted his responsibility to lead the team toward victory.
“I think I have to go out and certainly do a better job the last four weeks of the year. So, I appreciate it. Let's have a good week.”
Brady also emphasized the importance of being in rhythm as he said,
“I think football is so much about being in that rhythm and staying in rhythm and finding your rhythm.”
“I think as we keep going forward, we are learning more and more about ourselves, about what we need to do. Going to get back to work and try and do a lot better of a job the last quarter of the season.”
He was a man of his word as the Bucs won every game after this press conference, including Super Bowl LV, taking their revenge on the Kansas City Chiefs with a 31-9 score.
Brady completed 21 of his 29 passes in the game, recording 201 yards and three touchdowns, earning his fifth Super Bowl MVP.
