Is an Aaron Hernandez Netflix documentary in the works? Fact-checking viral update
Aaron Hernandez's story is definitely noteworthy of a new documentary on Netflix, but don't expect one anytime soon. Many fans were fooled on social media about a possible Netflix documentary about the life of the former New England Patriots tight end. The parody Twitter account DisbussingjFilm reported that a documentary was in the works.
However, many people failed to observe the Twitter handle and got fooled. The tweet said actor Jon Bernthal would portray the tight end and it would be a limited series.
Following the success of ‘DAHMER’, Netflix is producing an Aaron Hernandez limited series with Jon Bernthal in the leading role.

Aaron Hernandez was convicted of first-degree murder
On June 18, 2013, the former Florida Gators star's home was searched by police. The search of Hernandez's home came a day after the body of former semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd was found nearby. Three days after the search, video footage placed the tight end with Lloyd the night of his murder. On June 26, 2013, authorities arrested the tight end and charged him later with Lloyd's murder.
In April 2015, Aaron Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd. The conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
He was charged with two prior murders and was connected in the shootings of three other people in two separate occurrences going back to his time with the University of Florida. He was found dead in his prison cell in 2017 after committing suicide.
Aaron Hernandez's NFL career
Aaron Hernandez was selected in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Patriots. In his rookie season with New England, he had 45 receptions, 563 yards, and six touchdowns. Hernandez finished third in both yards and touchdowns for New England that season.
In his second season, Hernandez caught 79 passes for 910 yards and seven touchdowns. He finished third in all three categories that season for the Patriots. In what would be his final season in the NFL, he had 51 receptions, 483 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games. The team cut Hernandez after his arrest and it still has a lasting impact on the franchise.
