Is Bill Belichick ‘p**sed’ with Mac Jones? New report sheds light on Patriots’ troubles

Bill Belichick doesn't take kindly to a lot of things, and Mac Jones may be learning that soon. Jones has been the starter for the New England Patriots since his rookie season in 2021, but rumors are floating that that might not be the case anymore.

Jones and the Patriots had a frustrating year, and some of the quarterback's antics rubbed his head coach the wrong way, according to Patriots insider Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports Boston.

Tom E. Curran reveals that Coach Belichick was really pissed off at Mac Jones for going outside the building for advice on how to run the offense.

Curran also believes Brian Hoyer was released because he was against the system like Mac. https://t.co/ZC3URuwdQw

Curran said:

"Just what’s left over from Bill being agitated at Mac for, more than anything else – the yelling and the gesticulations during the games was irritating enough. But Chris Simms alluded to this, and I heard it reaffirmed today. Going outside the building for counsel as to ‘Is this the way we’re supposed to be doing this?’ That really p**sed Bill off. As we know, a betrayal, a disloyalty in Bill’s mind is almost worse than bad play."

Jones was seen visibly upset with coaches on the sidelines frequently and reportedly sought outside counsel on what the coaches were telling him to do. Per the rumors, a rift could be growing in New England.

Will Bill Belichick trade Mac Jones?

If the rumors are true or if Bill Belichick gets even more upset with Mac Jones, a trade may end up happening. If so, the Patriots may have the pieces in place to pull it off.

Bailey Zappe entered in relief of Jones when he sprained his ankle and looked pretty good. There was a debate as to who should even start when Jones came back. The former Alabama product did, but the debate indicates there's potential for a replacement in Zappe.

Could Bailey Zappe replace Mac Jones?

Plenty of teams need a quarterback, and Jones is on a team-friendly rookie contract. It would be easy enough to move him and the Patriots could use Zappe in his stead.

This is all hinging on whether or not the rumor is true or if Belichick would even act on it if it were true. Nevertheless, the future could be interesting in New England if things don't improve.
