Is Dalvin Cook playing tonight? Cowboys RB's status revealed for TNF clash vs Giants
Just before August came to a close, Dalvin Cook found himself a new home in Dallas, Texans after landing with the Cowboys. An extended free agency period turned out to be a frustrating one for the former Minnesota Vikings running back but landing with the Cowboys was seen as an interesting decision, considering the franchise steered clear of big names like Derrick Henry in free agency. One year on from Cook officially signing with the Cowboys, we're yet to see him take the field in what has been a pretty uneventful backfield consisting primarily of Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott.
The Cowboys will lock horns with the Giants later tonight on Thursday Night Football but Jerry Jones already confirmed that Cook will play no part in Week 4 owing to a short turnaround from Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Why isn't Dalvin Cook playing tonight vs Giants?
Earlier this week, Cowboys GM Jerry Jones indicated to reporters that the former All-Pro running back still isn't up to speed in this Dallas offense to feature on Thursday night.
So far this season, Dallas has split the reps between Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott.
However, Elliott has seen his snaps take a hit of late. He logged just three carries for six yards last week against the Ravens, down from six carries for 16 yards against New Orleans in what was a 44-19 beatdown. Cowboys fans were rightly frustrated given the state of the offense and even more so after Jones confirmed Cook will likely not feature against the Giants. At present, the offense appears geared toward looking at either CeeDee Lamb or Jake Ferguson.
