Is DeVonta Smith playing this week? Eagles WR's status revealed for Week 14 clash vs Panthers

Philadelphia Eagles wide recevier DeVonta Smith has missed two games this season, but he's still been an effective wide recevier for Jalen Hurts and the Eagles' offense.

Smith is second on the team in receptions (41) and receiving yards (516) and is tied with fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown for the most receiving touchdowns (4) by any player on the team.

Smith is in his fourth season in the league, and has recorded two 1,000+ yard seasons and has had seven receiving touchdowns in each of the last two seasons. With the Eagles having five more games left this season, Smith has a good chance at a third-straight season of recording at least 1,000 yards and seven receiving touchdowns.

This Sunday, the Eagles will host the Carolina Panthers, and Smith is expected to return back from an injury.

DeVonta Smith sustained a hamstring injury in the team's Week 11 win against the Washington Commanders. The injury forced him to miss the team's last two games as he didn't practice at all leading up to the Week 12 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Smith returned back to practice last week on a limited basis, but ultimately was ruled out against the Baltimore Ravens.

Smith began this week as a full participant on Wednesday, and was available for the rest of the week. According to Smith himself, he will play this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers as he told reporters Friday afternoon to "count him in" to play.

According to DeVonta Smith himself, he tried to play last week against the Ravens, but the team wouldn't let him.

The Philadelphia Eagles, at 10-2, are currently the second seed in the NFC and are in first place in the NFC East division. With the end of the regular season looming around the corner, a few teams (the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions) have already clinched playoff berths.

The Eagles have one of the best records in the NFL, and a playoff berth is possible in Week 14, they just need a ton of help.

The Eagles will need a win over the Carolina Panthers, plus one of the four following scenarios to happen:

-Cardinals, Falcons and Packers all lose.

-Cardinals, Buccaneers and Packers all lose.

-Cardinals, Falcons and Rams all lose.

-Cardinals, Buccaneers and Rams all lose.

Though it is possible, it seems highly unlikely that the Eagles will clinch a playoff berth this week. If they don't their odds and scenarios will be more likely next week.
