Jerry Jones has savage response for Dan Snyder, who reportedly dug up dirt on Cowboys owner
Jerry Jones is one of the most recognizable faces when it comes to NFL owners, and, as a result, finds himself in the headlines, courtesy of movers and shakers in Washington.
This time, the longtime Dallas Cowboys owner responded to reports of Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder having "dossiers" of dirt on other league owners.
In an interview on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, the Cowboys owner had this to say:
“I don’t have anything to say about it other than I don’t know where people got the supposed resource from me. Anything in that was news to me. If anybody wants to put something in my car or listen on the phone, get in line.”
Snyder recently told a close associate that he has collected plenty of secrets to "blow up" a number of NFL owners, the league office, and even commissioner Roger Goodell.
In private, the Commanders owner said of the league:
"They can't f--- with me."
Senior team executives and close associates have reportedly heard the owner say those words since he was deemed one of the worst owners in the NFL.
Now that he's facing investigations on several fronts and running out of high-powered colleagues, Snyder has reportedly hired private investigators in an attempt to delay the seemingly inevitable.
The 57-year-old has told associates he will not lose his prized franchise without a battle that could end with multiple victims, including Jones.
Synder on Jerry Jones
One owner was told directly by Snyder that he has dirt on the Cowboys owner, even though the nature of the information was unclear.
Another source confirmed to ESPN that Snyder has told a close colleague he has "a file" on Jones, the Dallas Cowboys owner who has been Snyder's friend, mentor and longtime supporter.
Jones reportedly told confidants recently that he might no longer safeguard Snyder any longer.
Snyder has also spoken ill about the 80-year-old owner, telling a high-ranking executive close to the Commanders owner:
"He's only out to get in your pocket. He'll sell you down the river. You can't trust him."
"Snyder's already lost Jerry," an NFL executive told ESPN.
There's one major takeaway from this situation involving these two owners: whatever friendship there was has clearly dissipated.
We'll see how this continues to develop as there appears to be no end in sight.
