Jets' pursuit of Aaron Rodgers heats up
The rumor mill is in full swing regarding Aaron Rodgers potentially joining the New York Jets. This speculation has gained traction due to the hiring of former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who has a close relationship with Rodgers from their time together with the Packers.
He won back-to-back MVPs and led the league's best scoring offense during their time together. Rodgers, whose career is similar to that of Packers legend Brett Favre, may leave the Packers to join the Jets before retiring.
The Jets have made no attempt to dispel the rumors, with some players using social media to fuel speculation of his arrival. The Jets' general manager is reportedly willing to make a strong effort to acquire the talented veteran quarterback.
Meanwhile, Jets head coach Robert Saleh has stated that the team is committed to bringing in a veteran quarterback during this off-season.
Rodgers the missing piece for Jets' championship puzzle
The Jets' current quarterback, Zach Wilson, had a poor 2022 season, ranking 33rd in passing yards, 36th in passing touchdowns, and with the worst completion percentage among quarterbacks with 100 or more attempts.
The Jets defense is among the top 5 in the league and all they need is a quarterback who won't turn the ball over. Rodgers, a two-time league MVP, still had 26 touchdowns, throwing for 3,695 yards in what was considered one of his worst seasons.
Rodgers had to make do with rookie receivers after losing Davante Adams to the Raiders in the 2022 offseason, and he complained about their ability to run routes and catch the ball efficiently.
However, the Packers' offense found a rhythm during a four-game winning streak at the end of the season, and they might have qualified for the playoffs if not for a loss to the Detroit Lions on the last day.
With a more experienced and talented offense and incredible defense, he can lead the Jets to a championship run and potentially earn another MVP award with his talent.
