Joe Mixon assaulting 20-year-old in 2014, allegedly breaking her face “in four places,” didn’t give Bengals pause

This week, Cincinnati police issued an arrest warrant for Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon. As per reports, the 26-year-old has been accused of aggravated menacing towards a woman in January.

Court documents added that he threatened the victim by pointing a gun at her, saying that she should be 'popped' in the face.

However, this is not the only assault case Mixon has been involved in. In 2014, Mixon apparently punched a woman in the face after he and his friends made some unwanted sexual advances towards the lady.

Should Oklahoma have let him to play in 2015 & 2016 after this?

The situation apparently 'escalated' after Mixon and his group used a gay slur on her friend. The woman revealed her side of the story while talking to the police of Norman, Oklahoma.

The RB's attorney revealed that he denied harassing the woman. Apparently, eyewitnesses denying this were contradictory. Ultimately, Joe Mixon was charged with misdemeanor and was also suspended from his team, the Sooners football, for the 2014 campaign.

The defense also brought in a racial slur, mentioning that it was Mixon who was called a slur by the victim's (Amelia Molitor) friend. The incident reportedly took place outside Pickleman's Gourmet Cafe, where they asked Molitor to go home with the NFL star.

Considering his countless legal troubles, the Bengals could have been alerted. As the years go by, teams have grown increasingly conscious about the kind of players they sign.

Did Joe Mixon's punch break the victim's nose?

As per the victim, Joe Mixon punched her once, but it was enough to break her face in four places.

"He punched me one time," Molitor revealed. "He broke my face in four places ... my nose, my sinuses ... they're broken."

Of course, Molitor opted to take legal action, considering she and her friend were assaulted.

"That's my big fear (the fans)," Molitor added. "I've been told to stay off of social media to avoid (OU fans) coming after me on there."

The police investigated before finally charging Mixon.

Back in 2014, Mixon was playing for the University of Oklahoma. They suspended him for the entire season, allowing him to only attend classes and not partake in any team activities.

Bengals chose to draft Joe Mixon despite the boos filling the venue

The 2017 NFL season started with Joe Mixon being without an invite from the NFL scouting combine because of his 2014 assault case. When they announced Mixon's name, the fans booed him consistently. The Bengals, on their end, are known to add problematic players to their team.

Furthermore, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis agreed that fans would 'pause for a second'.

“But this thing’s got to move forward,” Lewis said, “and he’s got to move on. He’s lived with this since the day it’s occurred.”

Executives and reports stated that if not for the incident, Mixon would certainly be a top-five pick.
