Jonathon Brooks injury update: Should fantasy managers be concerned about Panthers RB?

Jonathon Brooks is ranked pretty high on ESPN fantasy boards, despite the ominous "O" next to his name. Any player with that is cause for concern.

Here's what fantasy managers need to know about the Carolina Panthers rookie.

Jonathan Brooks injury update

Jonathon Brooks suffered a torn ACL in November. He will start the season on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, meaning he won't be back until at least Week 5. He will also presumably be limited once he returns, so he might not get a lot of carries until somewhere around Week 7 or 8.

Should fantasy managers be worried about Jonathon Brooks?

There's not much to worry about with Jonathan Brooks. The second-round pick has had an injury designation since the draft.

The only concern with choosing Brooks is that there is no indication of what he will be like in the NFL or what his workload will be following his ACL injury.

He's obviously talented, but he didn't get to play during the preseason. Fantasy managers have no idea how he'll adjust, which makes him a potentially high-risk, high-reward player.

He's slated to go 60th overall in ESPN drafts despite the injury.

However, he's likely to be the top back in the Carolina Panthers' backfield once fit. Miles Sanders is likely an afterthought by now and Chuba Hubbard isn't good enough to keep Brooks sidelined once he is healthy.

There's potential for Brooks to be a high-end running back once he returns. If your team can withstand that loss until then, then he could be an excellent pick and a possible game-changer down the line.
