Kyler Murray and Justin Fields both have a similar style of play. Both can rack up rushing yards and passing touchdowns for fantasy managers. This gives them both an argument to be started each NFL week. However, the key is to pick correctly or potentially lose your matchup. Here's a look at both quarterbacks and a recommendation for Week 5.

Kyler Murray fantasy outlook for Week 5

Kyler Murray is under .500 in the young 2024 season, but his record has little bearing on how he will produce against the San Francisco 49ers. According to Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Optimizer, Murray will have a great day, regardless of the result of the game. Murray is expected to earn 21.5 points this week.

Justin Fields fantasy outlook for Week 5

Justin Fields is coming off a 30-burger in Week 4. After such a productive day, expect somewhat of a fall-off, but not by much. Fields is projected to earn 20.1 points against the Dallas Cowboys, per Sportskeeda's Start/Sit Optimizer.

He is expected to earn at least one passing touchdown, an interception, nearly 200 passing yards, and about 60 yards on the ground. He also has a 40% chance of a rushing touchdown.

Kyler Murray or Justin Fields: Final verdict

Managers who have both Murray and Justin Fields are living life in luxury this week. With both quarterbacks expected to earn 20+ points, either player should suffice. However, those interested in the optimal lineup should go with Kyler Murray.

Both Fields and Murray like to rack up rushing yards, but Murray's arm is a bit more reliable than Fields'. He also still has an element of surprise with Marvin Harrison Jr. He also will be facing the 49ers, who are not quite at full health, giving him a boost.

The 49ers currently are on pace to have three first-team defenders miss the game under questionable designations. Offensively, George Kittle doesn't appear to be 100%, either, per ESPN.

All of those injuries work in Murray's favor. Even if the 49ers win the game, a damaged roster reduces the chances of a blowout win to the point that the Cardinals take Murray out of the game to preserve him for the next game.
