Lamar Jackson accused of having ‘gotten noisy’ as Ravens star’s trade request shakes NFL
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson dropped a bombshell earlier this morning. In a tweet from his personal account, the former NFL MVP revealed that he has requested a trade from the Ravens.
Jackson revealed that he requested a trade on March 2, but so far the franchise hasn't entertained any offers. However, now that Jackson has revealed the situation to the public, the trade conversations might ramp up in the coming weeks.
Colin Cowherd immediately talked about the whole situation, and he thinks that demanding a trade could backfire on Jackson as there is not much of a big market for him. Here's what Cowherd said:
“If he is going to demand a fully guaranteed contract I think the market is really small. Very rarely do you get a high-profile athlete in their prime former MVP and ugly contract negotiations.
"We talked about it last week, Lamar has gotten noisy. If a fully guaranteed deal is what he's demanding, I don't think there's a ton of teams out there. He's missed a lot of starts, but he's betting on himself.
"Remember the Ravens get two first-round picks if they move him. So Baltimore is saying, 'Listen, test the market, we won before you were going to win after you test the market. We're getting two firsts.' And they historically draft and develop well. Bit of a stalemate Lamar wants out.”
The Baltimore Ravens drafted Jackson with the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 draft, and he ended up winning the MVP award unanimously in the 2019 season. If that is the end of Jackson in Baltimore, then he will be heavily missed by the fans.
So far, Lamar Jackson has played 70 games over five seasons for the Ravens, in which he has thrown for 12,209 yards, 101 touchdowns and 38 interceptions. He has also rushed for 4,437 yards with 24 rushing touchdowns.
Lamar Jackson is favored to go to the Colts
As of now, the Indianapolis Colts have emerged as the favorites to land Lamar Jackson via trade. The Colts are in the market for a quarterback and were tipped to draft one in the upcoming draft.
However, with Jackson now publicly revealing that he wants out of Baltimore, Jim Irsay could make the play for a much more proven player rather than drafting someone from college. The Colts have the best odds of getting Jackson at +225, while the New England Patriots are placed second with a value of +450.
