Lamar Jackson contract impasse: UFC president Dana White doles out advice for Ravens QB
Lamar Jackson's contract situation with the Baltimore Ravens hasn't been resolved yet. The Ravens have used the non-exclusive franchise tag on him, and the quarterback is free to negotiate a deal with another team.
However, as of now, no team is willing to offer Jackson a contract, and that has left many tensed. UFC President Dana White recently appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and offered a piece of advice to the Ravens quarterback.
Here's what Dana White said:
"At the end of the day, he doesn't really need an agent, but he should have a really good lawyer. Gotta have a really good lawyer behind you that can actually get in there and do the contract the right way.
"I know, A-Rod (Alex Rodgriguez of Yankees), I think A-Rod's last deal that he did in baseball. He did it with Warren Buffett, called Warren Buffett and Warren Buffett gave him a ton of advice on how to negotiate his last deal.
"Lamar Jackson is a stud and I don't know, his whole how his relationship works with the Ravens or any other these teams out there. But he can go in by himself and have a really, really good lawyer behind him."
It's true that Jackson's lack of representation has caused him more trouble than good, as he has been unable to reach an agreement with the Baltimore Ravens after years of negotiating.
Hopefully, Lamar Jackson will be able to resolve his problem soon, and maybe he will listen to and follow Dana White's advice regarding successful contract negotiations.
Lamar Jackson not receiving interest from any team
After Jackson was given the non-exclusive tag, teams like the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, etc. came out and addressed that they were not interested in signing the Ravens quarterback.
Many feel that with the help of Lamar Jackson's situation, NFL owners are demonstrating unity and attempting to eliminate excessive guaranteed money contracts. It is uncertain where the former NFL MVP will play next season since his relationship with the Ravens seems strained.
Jackson is free to sign with any team, and the Ravens have the option of matching that offer or accepting two first-round draft selections in return for their talented quarterback.
