Lamar Jackson’s ex-teammate says Ravens are burning bridges with QB
Lamar Jackson and his relationship with the Baltimore Ravens have been under the microscope a lot this season. The quarterback didn't start in the Ravens' Wild Card round game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a knee injury.
Tyler Huntley started in Jackson's place in the 24 -17 loss to the Bengals, ending their 2022 season. With the Ravens' season over, there is talk that the team's quarterback may have played his last down with the franchise.
Running back Mark Ingram, Jackson's teammate in Baltimore for two seasons (2019 - 2020), commented that the Ravens are burning bridges with their star quarterback. On the show, Up & Adams, the three-time Pro Bowler defended his teammate for not playing in that Wild Card game versus the Bengals.
Ingram said:
“Clearly the man was hurt. Ever since I was his teammate I know he’s going to risk it all to be out there on the the field - especially in a playoff game…”
The Ravens signal-caller took to Twitter ahead of their Wild Card game to declare that his knee wasn't at full strength to start.
Lamar Jackson said:
"I'm still in good spirits, as I continue with treatments on the road to recovery," "I wish I could be out there with my guys more than anything but I can't give a 100% of myself to my guys and fans. I'm still hopeful we still have a chance."
Jackson suffered a knee PCL sprain grade two injury against the Denver Broncos in Week 13, missing the Ravens' last six games. The question remains, will the All-Pro star play next season with the Ravens?
Lamar Jackson's time with the Ravens and his future with the franchise
Lamar Jackson was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He won the league MVP award in his second season in the NFL, throwing for 3,127 yards and 36 touchdowns. Jackson also rushed for 1,207 yards and seven touchdowns that season.
In 12 starts this season, he has thrown for 2,242 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while rushing for 764 yards and three touchdowns. The former Louisville Cardinals star is looking for a long-term contract. Last September, he reportedly rejected a $250 million contract offer as he seeks more guaranteed money than the $133 million the team presented.
We'll see what the Ravens will do with Lamar Jackson this offseason, as the team would love to have him back under center next season.
