Lane Johnson Eagles contract: How much will Philly All-Pro earn in 2023?

While the Philadelphia Eagles have lost many players to free agency this off-season, they will continue to keep tackle Lane Johnson for another season.

The 10-year veteran tackle was awarded a one-year $33.45 million contract extension by the team early Friday morning, per ESPN reporter Adam Schefter.

With the extension, Johnson is now under contract through 2026, and the move could create some cap space for the Eagles to make another move in free agency.

Lane Johnson has played and started 127 games in his 10-year career.

In 2021, Johnson recorded the first and only touchdown of his career. He caught a five-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts. The play was set up by a play-action pass that saw Hurts fake a handoff to running back Boston Scott that allowed Johnson to get open in the corner for an easy five-yard touchdown reception. He also has four career tackles.

Upon scoring the touchdown, Johnson was a little worried as he thought he possibly could have messed up the catch and hilariously said he tried to do a Lambeau Leap.

Johnson said via ESPN:

"I know Jalen whizzed that thing in there. What was worrying me was that I was wearing those thumb guards that are all like plastic, so I can't really bend my thumb. I'm just glad I caught it and after that, I tried to do a Lambeau Leap, but I guess our gates are pretty tall."
