β€œLose my number” - Aaron Rodgers takes a wild dig at Adam Schefter over Jets reporting

Aaron Rodgers revealed on Wednesday that he plans on playing for the New York Jets in 2023 on "The Pat McAfee Show."

It was announced Tuesday that the four-time MVP would be joining McAfee on his show on Wednesday, with many expecting him to announce his decision.

On the show, he talked about how ESPN reporters Adam Schefter and Dianni Russini tried texting him about his decision. He told Schefter to lose his number, and he didn't respond to Russini.

"Just ask Schefter what I texted him when he somehow got my number and texted me," Rodgers said. "You know, I didn't respond to Dianna Russini. But like, I would say the same thing that I told Schefty: 'Lose my number. Nice try."

Rodgers denied reports of having a wish list of players for the Jets to sign.

"I'll speak for myself," Rodgers said. "I'm sure there'll be people that 'have their sources.' But, you know, from what I've seen, it's like I had a sheet of paper when I met with the Jets and I said, 'Sign these people.' And that's not the reality. That's so ridiculous."

In the same interview with McAfee, Aaron Rodgers said that his intentions this season are to play for the Jets and that the Packers are holding the trade up due to the compensation they're trying to get for him.

"My intention is to play and to play for the New York Jets," Rodgers said. "I haven't been holding anything up at this point. It's the Packers and the compensation they're trying to get for me."

Reports in February said that the Packers were looking for two-plus first-round picks in return for Rodgers. The Jets seemed willing to offer that as Sports Illustrated's Peter King reported that Jets owner Woody Johnson would "happily" give up two firsts for Rodgers.

Then there were reports that the Packers were looking for a first-round pick and a conditional pick. The Packers are now reportedly seeking at least two first-round picks for Rodgers.

Regardless of what the Packers are looking for, a deal is expected to get done.
