Malik Nabers injury update: Latest on Giants WR for Fantasy Football Week 5
Malik Nabers suffered a concussion during the New York Giants' Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Despite an extended rest period, the star wide receiver remains in the concussion protocol.
The Giants will play the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5, and as per ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Nabers is a 'longshot' to play this Sunday. This is a big blow for New York, as Nabers has been their best player this season.
In four games, the 21-year-old wideout has 35 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns on 52 targets. Nabers currently leads the NFL in receptions, and it will be difficult for the Giants to come away with a result against the Seahawks without him.
The Seahawks did give up 42 points to the Detroit Lions in Week 4, but apart from that, their defense has been exceptional, allowing just 167.5 net passing yards per game this season.
Malik Nabers injury: A look at Giants WR depth chart
With Malik Nabers not expected to play in Week 5, the Giants will have to rely on Wan'Dale Robinson to have a big game against the Seahawks. The Giants wide receiver depth chart looks like this heading into Week 5:
- WR1: Malik Nabers*
- WR2: Wan'Dale Robinson
- WR3: Darius Slayton
- WR4: Jalin Hyatt
- WR5: Ihmir Smith-Marsette
- WR6: Bryce Ford-Wheaton
Robinson has a heel injury that makes him questionable for the game against the Seahawks. The Seahawks currently have the league's seventh-best passing defense, and they will undoubtedly pose serious questions for Daniel Jones.
The Giants no longer have Saquon Barkley and are averaging just 3.4 rushing yards per carry this season. As a result, they will have to throw the ball, and without Malik Nabers on the field, that might not result in success for the team.
The Giants are 1-3 heading into Week 5, with their only win coming against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3. Their offense has averaged just 15.0 points and 305.5 yards of total offense this season.
Quarterback Daniel Jones, who has faced a lot of criticism, has thrown for 881 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions in four games this season, completing 63.2% of his throws.
