Malik Nabers injury update: Should Fantasy managers be concerned about Giants WR for Week 7

Malik Nabers was having a phenomenal rookie season before he suffered a concussion in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys. The LSU Tigers product was a bright spot on Brian Daboll's offense and led the team in receiving yards in the first four games of his NFL career.

Ahead of the Giants' Week 7 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, let's take a look at Nabers' status.

Should Fantasy managers be concerned about Malik Nabers?

According to NFL insider Jordan Raanan, Malik Nabers has made "progress" and will practice in a red jersey on Wednesday. The New York Giants are "optimistic," and are hoping for the player to make the next step on Thursday. Brian Daboll confirmed the news ahead of Wednesday's training session.

This news should be a major relief to both Giants fans and fantasy football managers with Nabers on their roster. Before he suffered a concussion, Nabers was a top-two wideout and a favorite for the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.

Nabers' catching, route running and football IQ provided a sure outlet for Daniel Jones, and his performances were reminiscent of a young Odell Beckham Jr. during his early years in New York.

Hence, fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned about Nabers. The rookie star wide receiver is on the comeback trail and he'll likely suit up against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7. However, it will be a good idea to get a decent backup wide receiver on the bench just in case any unforeseen setbacks leading hamper his participation against the Eagles.

How has Malik Nabers performed this season?

Malik Nabers was one of a trio of can't-miss wide receivers selected early in the 2024 NFL Draft alongside Marvin Harrison Jr. and Rome Odunze. However, Nabers was selected as the lowest among the trio, and he fell into the palms of the New York Giants.

Nabers has spent time proving his doubters wrong as he's showing out in New York. The LSU product has amassed a stat line of 35 catches, 386 receiving yards and three touchdowns in just four games. He has racked up 60+ receiving yards in every game so far, going above 100+ yards in two contests.

The New York Giants have gone 1-1 in games that he's missed, with Darius Slayton stepping up admirably. However, the sooner Nabers returns to action, the better the Giants' chances of making the playoffs this season.
