MarShawn Lloyd injury update: Latest on Packers RB for Week 3 fantasy football

The Green Bay Packers have been receiving bad news regarding a few of their players recently and now MarShawn Lloyd has joined the list. The running back started the season expecting to become Josh Jacobs' main partner in crime, but now, he'll miss some time due to an ankle injury.

Packers fans and fantasy owners have a few things to worry about concerning Lloyd, as his tumultuous career start keeps getting worse. It's time to check if he remains a good option for managers.

MarShawn Lloyd injury update: When will Packers RB return?

The Packers have placed MarShawn Lloyd on injured reserve and signed Chris Brooks from the practice squad to the active roster to give more depth to the RB room. This means the rookie will be out for at least four weeks, before he's able to return to the pitch, presumably against the Houston Texans in Week 7.

The Packers have dealt with multiple injuries and scares even before the season started. AJ Dillon was the first one to go down with a season-ending injury that will keep him sidelined for the entire 2024 campaign.

In the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, Jordan Love went down with a knee injury and his return remains a question mark for the Packers. Jayden Reed was listed as a limited participant in the last practice before the Indianapolis Colts game and now Lloyd is added to the IR.

Green Bay is already in a tough spot with these injuries and Lloyd joining the list was the last thing their fans wanted to see at this stage of the season. He suffered the ankle injury during Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts and was initially considered a day-to-day situation.

MarShawn Lloyd has been dealing with injuries since training camp

MarShawn Lloyd was selected as the No. 88 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Packers, but the start of his career wasn't the most pleasant. Lloyd missed the start of the team's practice camp and OTAs due to a hip injury, which was the start of his recurrent issues with injuries.

After a full recovery from that hip injury, he sprained his hamstring in the Packers' first preseason game last month. This hamstring injury prevented him from becoming the team's RB2 behind Josh Jacobs in the first game of the season.

He had six carries against the Colts, rushing for 15 yards while getting one reception for three receiving yards.

This is a player that fantasy managers should keep on their own IR or release him for good and replace him with another option among RB2s.
