The Panthers have already qualified for the playoffs this season and the win improved their record to 6-2 after Week 8. Meanwhile, the Showboats remained joint-bottom in the league standings with a 1-7 record, losing their seventh game in a row.

The Michigan Panthers split time with two quarterbacks against the Showboats to win on Saturday. Brian Lewerke and Bryce Perkins looked sharp under center and didn't throw any interceptions.

Lewerke completed six of 11 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown and gained 13 yards on three rushing attempts. Perkins completed seven of nine passes for 106 yards and a touchdown. Panthers running back Matthew Colburn II rushed for 93 yards on 24 runs and two scores.

After the game, Panthers coach Mike Nolan praised his team's defensive display to get the win.

"I thought that our team showed a lot of resiliency today. It was a back-and-forth game as we all well know, and (the Showboats) were in it all the way. I feel fortunate to win it, to be honest with you," Nolan said.

Michigan's defense finished with four sacks, two additional tackles for loss and an interception. The Panthers' backline held the Showboats to a relatively miserly 239 total yards.

Meanwhile, Case Cookus started as the quarterback for Memphis but exited the game in the third quarter after picking up an injury. The quarterback completed 10-of-16 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown before leaving the field.

Cookus was replaced by backup quarterback Josh Love, who completed nine of 12 passes for 56 yards and one touchdown.

The Panthers will play their penultimate regular-season game against the Houston Roughnecks next weekend. Meanwhile, the Showboats will host the D.C. Defenders in their next game.
