New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day injury report feat. CeeDee Lamb, Dexter Lawrence, and more
It is Thanksgiving once again, and the day would not be complete without the Dallas Cowboys playing in the afternoon. However, this season has a different tone, as they are fighting to stay in the playoff hunt rather than clinching the NFC East.
Their opponents, the New York Giants, are playing just their second game since releasing quarterback Daniel Jones. The Giants had been struggling even before that, and expectations are that they will aim to lose as many games as possible in hopes of landing a high draft pick to select one of the top quarterback prospects, such as Shedeur Sanders or Carson Beck.
Both teams are dealing with injuries to key contributors. Here's an injury update as of Tuesday:
New York Giants injury update feat. Dexter Lawrence
Dexter Lawrence has established himself as one of the league’s top defensive tackles, emerging as a sack machine and a rare bright spot for an otherwise struggling franchise.
Initially, there were concerns about Lawrence’s status after he was limited in Monday’s practice with a knee injury. However, he was upgraded to a full participant on Tuesday and, barring any setbacks, should be cleared to play on Thursday.
Two defenders, however, have yet to practice and are very doubtful to play: linebacker Azeez Ojulari (toe) and defensive tackle/end Armon Watts (shoulder). Joining them on the doubtful list is offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor (quad). Seven more players were limited participants on Tuesday:
- QB Tommy DeVito (forearm, did not practice on Monday)
- TE Theo Johnson (back)
- OT Evan Neal (hip, did not practice on Monday)
- NT DJ Davidson (shoulder)
- LB Micah McFadden (thumb/heel)
- CB Deonte Banks (rib)
- S Tyler Nubin (back)
Dallas Cowboys injury update feat. CeeDee Lamb
As CeeDee Lamb himself would say, he is "banged up," currently dealing with back and foot injuries that have limited his availability in practice. But his situation is just a microcosm of the larger injury challenges the Cowboys are facing.
Fellow wide receiver Brandin Cooks has also been limited by a knee injury. Additionally, QB Cooper Rush (knee), OG Tyler Smith (ankle/knee), and CB DaRon Bland (foot) carried limited participation designations.
Absentees on Tuesday were TE Jake Ferguson (concussion), OLs Zack Martin (ankle/shoulder) and Asim Richards (ankle), DE Marshawn Kneeland (knee), LBs Eric Kendricks (groin/shoulder) and Nick Vigil (foot), and CBs Trevon Diggs (groin/knee) and Caelan Carson (shoulder).
Meanwhile, four players practiced in full over the two days: FB Hunter Luepke (calf), OTs Chuma Edoga (toe) and Tyler Guyton (shoulder), and CB Jourdan Lewis (neck).
