$15,000,000,000 Jerry Jones dismisses notion of not valuing Cowboys winning Super Bowl as much as making money - "That's bull stuff"

Although the Dallas Cowboys are the most popular franchise in the NFL, the lack of playoff success over the past three decades is astonishing. When Jerry Jones took over the team, he instantly built a juggernaut, winning multiple titles in the 90's; however, the Cowboys have not made the NFC Championship Game since 1995.

Jones is a businessman genius who has skyrocketed the Cowboys' franchise value. However, this hasn't translated to on-field success in a long time, which has led to fans worrying he cares more about the paper than wins. Still, he took time to dismiss this notion in a pre-season interview:

[49:26 to 52:10] One of the things that makes it [NFL] work is its financial foundation, and that's why we're always looking at that. I'm not ashamed of that. I'm not ashamed of that at all. What's missing here is the fact that maybe someone thinks that I don't want to win a ball game, I don't want to win a Super Bowl as much as I want to make a buck. That's bull stuff. That's not the way it works. Anybody really knows me is that I'd trade two-thirds, a third of whatever percent you want to call of what the Cowboys are supposed to be worth to get us one of those Super Bowls.

The franchise is entering a crucial year. The team has their franchise quarterback, Dak Prescott, in the final year of his deal, and the discussions have led to nothing. Next year, they'll also have to pay Micah Parsons. If this is another unfruitful season, many things will be different in Dallas when the 2025 season comes.

Who will the Cowboys play in Week 1?

A tough task lies ahead, as they'll face the Cleveland Browns and their stoic defense to open the season. The Browns made the playoffs in 2023 and have kept the same defensive basis while returning all of their superstars who got injured in 2024.

This will also be a mark for NFL fans as Tom Brady's first game as a play-by-play analyst on FOX. Brady in a Dallas game is a must-see TV.
