2025 NFL Draft: Deion Sanders makes thoughts clear on son Shedeur Sanders potentially landing with Raiders at #1 overall
Could Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders be drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders? As the 2024 season approaches for both NCAA football and the NFL, Sanders enters the season as one of the top quarterback prospects in college football.
He threw 27 touchdowns to just three interceptions last season despite Colorado finishing with a 4-8 record. If Sanders can replicate the same production he had last season, he will very likely be a top-10 pick given his name and reputation.
Deion Sanders, Shedeur's father and his head coach at Colorado, was asked about the possibility of his son playing for the Raiders at the Big 12 Media Days. He likes the possibility of his sons playing for head coach Antonio Pierce and the Silver and Gold in Las Vegas.
“That’d be nice. They have a wonderful head coach. Wonderful president. That’d be nice. I’ve been looking around the stadium, it’s nice. [Pierce] is a great man, great leader. He earned the job. He didn’t get nothing, he earned the job. Love what he brings to the table.
"I don’t want him to lose to the point where he has the ability to get Shedeur, let’s get that straight. I don’t want that to happen, I really don’t,” Deion Sanders said.
In "Sportskeeda's NFL Playoff Predictor," the Raiders are projected to finish the season with a 5-12 record, landing the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. That could put them in a prime position to select Shedeur, despite the wishes of his father.
Deion Sanders denied having a list of teams that he wants his sons and Travis Hunter to play for
Deion Sanders isn't afraid to voice his opinion. Even back in his NFL days, 'Primetime' was bold and always spoke his mind.
Earlier this off-season, there were multiple reports that Sanders had a list of teams that he would allow his kids and star Travis Hunter to play for.
Sanders made an appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast earlier this off-season and spoke about where he'd like his sons and Hunter to be drafted.
“Now, all of this is subjective because I know where I kinda want them to go, and let’s not forget [Buffaloes safety] Shilo [Sanders], but I know where I want them to go. So, there are certain cities that ain’t gonna happen… It’s going to be an Eli. We ain’t doing it.”
However, Sanders denied that he has a 'list' of teams that he will restrict Sheduer and Hunter to, claiming that the reports were untrue.
"That's a bold face lie. That's a stupid lie," coach Prime said bluntly in an interview with Romi Bean.
Things will get interesting after the conclusion of the 2024-2025 NCAA Football season. Will Colorado and Deion Sanders flip the program around in season two of his tenure and become a winning team?
All eyes will be on Shedeur and Hunter, who are projected first-round picks in next year's draft. They have the chance to boost their stock and soar early into the first round if they and the team can have a good season this year.
