3x Super Bowl champ refuses to give $52,500,000 Jerry Jeudy his flowers despite 235-yd night vs Broncos
So Monday Night Football was fun, eh? In a primetime matchup most expected would turn out to be a snoozefest between one team just about out of the playoffs and another knocking on the door of a playoff berth, it was anyone's game as the Denver Broncos went up against the Cleveland Browns.
Browns QB Jameis Winston decided to take it upon himself to make this a matchup worth the fans' time, throwing for 497 yards (a single-game franchise record), four touchdowns and three INTs. One of those TDs was thrown to Jerry Jeudy, who was traded to the Browns earlier this year and signed a three-year deal worth $52,500,000 (Spotrac).
In what was a revenge game for Jeudy, he ended the night hauling in nine catches for 235 yards, breaking Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens' record for the most receiving yards gained against his former team, one that stood for 16 years.
Broncos legend Mark Schlereth has been a vocal critic of Jeudy since his time in Denver and clearly wasn't impressed with Jeudy's stat line on Monday night. After a tweet brought Jeudy's 235 yards to his notice, Schlereth tweeted:
"I'm sorry I dozed off. How did they do? Was it a big win?"
Inside Mark Schlereth and Jerry Jeudy's beef
Back in March, when the Browns traded for Jerry Jeudy, who was perennially on the trade block, Schlereth had a lot to say about how the Broncos got a 5th and 6th round pick back in the move.
“I’ve been telling you for the last two years what a bust Jerry Jeudy is at the WR position. Well, today he was traded to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth and sixth-round pick. I got this from you guys all the time ‘But he’s so quick in and out of breaks, he’s a great route runner.’ Yeah he’s open after the quarterback has already gone through the progression," Schlereth said, bidding him good riddance in a post on X.
Jeudy also responded to the Broncos Hall of Famer, tweeting:
"Only if your opinion mattered Hating a*s dude #Bagseason, yall go give this lame a*s dude some attention."
