3x Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth calls for Browns to cut $15,900,000 star after Week 14
Former NFL offensive guard Mark Schlereth isn't one to mince words. On Sunday, he blasted Cleveland kicker Dustin Hopkins. After Hopkins missed two field goals, one in the first half and another early in the third quarter, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Schlereth shared his opinions on X.
"Cleveland needs to cut their kicker right now. Go for every fourth down and go for two on any score," Schlereth tweeted.
The first try Dustin Hopkins missed was a 38-yard attempt, and the second was a 43-yarder. Heading into Sunday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hopkins was 16 for 23 on field-goal attempts. He was also 14 of 16 on extra-point attempts.
At this point in the season, it's unclear if the three-win Cleveland Browns would make a decision on their kicker.
Mark Schlereth called out Jerry Jeudy for being 'selfish' and 'unaware'
Mark Schlereth won three Super Bowl titles as an offensive lineman with the Denver Broncos. In his playing days, social media didn't exist yet, although the Denver offensive line was famous for not speaking to the media.
Before he suggested Dustin Hopkins should be cut, Mark Schlereth expressed his dislike for another Cleveland Browns player.
Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy celebrated his revenge game against his former team, the Denver Broncos, on Monday. The Browns lost 41-32 with a late interception from quarterback Jameis Winston, and Schlereth didn't feel Jeudy should have celebrated his own accomplishments.
"Celebrating your stats on Instagram in a game your team just lost is about the most selfish unaware wide receiver thing I’ve ever seen and why they moved on!" Schlereth tweeted.
Jerry Jeudy had nine receptions for 235 receiving yards against the team that drafted him in 2020 and then traded him last offseason. The Cleveland Browns were 3-9 entering Sunday's Week 14 matchup against their AFC North rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Even before losing starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, the Browns weren't able to find their footing from Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season.
