3x Super Bowl champion serves Jets HC Robert Saleh a warning over relying on Aaron Rodgers

The vibes over in the New York Jets locker room are at an all-time high given the fact that Aaron Rodgers is back in the building and raring to go. Rodgers missed nearly all of last season with an Achilles injury so we didn't get to see what the four-time NFL MVP would look like with the Jets but he has looked like his old self (no pun intended) in training camp so far. All things considered, several analysts are pretty high on the Jets' potential in 2024.

But here's the bitter truth.

The Jets will only go as far as Aaron Rodgers can take them. This is a quarterbacks' league (as evidenced by the fact that Jordan Love just became the NFL's highest-paid QB) and while defense will likely be the Jets' calling card this year, they will still need to rely on Rodgers and his supporting cast to have any chance at the Lombardi.

Three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth opined as much on his Stinkin' Truth podcast this week while serving Robert Saleh a timely reminder that his job hinges on Rodgers showing up. Schlereth said:

“If Aaron Rodgers isn’t healthy and can’t play this year, Robert Saleh is gonna get fired before the season ends."

Aaron Rodgers' Jets flirting with Davante Adams trade

The Jets have more than a few weapons on offense this season. But it appears they aren't quite done with business if Aaron Rodgers' comments are anything to go by.

At the American Century Championship this month, Rodgers said that he "can't wait" to play with Davante Adams again.

Naturally, the four-time MVP's comments ignited all sorts of speculation regarding a potential Davante Adams trade. However, Adams also made it clear that he is fully focused on the Raiders in 2024. That didn't stop the rumor mill from working overtime.

Boomer Esiason and Dan Orlovsky both expressed confidence that Adams would be a Jet sooner or later this year. Rodgers' teammate Garrett Wilson also made it known that he would be more than open to playing with Davante Adams this year.
