49ers' Brandon Aiyuk reignites trade speculation with cryptic TikTok post on Commanders

Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers have yet to agree on a contract extension. However, the wide receiver has added more fuel to the fire regarding his supposed trade away from the NFC West team.

A week ago, it was reported that Aiyuk had handed over an official trade request. However, that was later quashed by Aiyuk’s agent. The athlete has taken a public approach to his negotiations, which continued last Sunday when Aiyuk posted a picture of himself watching a film of the Washington Commanders’ training drills.

The athlete has previously hinted at moving to Washington from the San Francisco 49ers, a theory supported by his close friendship with Commanders' rookie QB Jayden Daniels. Neither team has officially commented on the matter, but Aiyuk's cryptic post has sent fans of both franchises into overdrive mode.

The official stance of the 49ers is that they are negotiating a contract extension with the athlete. However, these public statements could sour the waters of their relationship. Only time will tell if Aiyuk takes the field for the 49ers or the Commanders in the upcoming season.

The San Francisco 49ers want Brandon Aiyuk

Amidst ongoing negotiations, Brandon Aiyuk chose to skip OTAs and the mandatory minicamp earlier in the offseason. Those close to him have urged the 49ers' front office to tie up the athlete to a long-term deal.

Apart from head coach Kyle Shanahan, star QB Brock Purdy has also talked about Aiyuk's importance to the squad.

"Yeah, I think it’s extremely important," Purdy said to media at the OTAs. “He is a playmaker. Love throwing to him. Love B.A. as a person. So yeah, it’s definitely important.”

The 49ers will start their mandatory full training camp for veterans on July 23 at the SAP Performance Facility. Purdy and the 49ers' fanbase would hope to see Brandon Aiyuk amongst the arriving athletes that day.
