49ers HC Kyle Shanahan reveals getting to meet Trent Williams' late son before heartbreaking demise

San Francisco 49ers star Trent Williams is currently mourning the loss of his stillborn son Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr., who lost his life on Sunday. Williams' wife Sondra was pregnant with twins, with one passing away during her pregnancy. There were a handful of people who got the chance to see Williams' son before his cremation last Friday.

The list included 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. During an interview with US Weekly on Tuesday, Shanahan recalled his meeting with Trent Williams' stillborn son at the hospital. Talking about his visit to the hospital, 49ers head coach said:

"He was there at the hospital with [wife Sondra] and got to meet him and say bye. Then he had to cremate him on Friday [November 29]. So he’s been dealing with that and he’s working through it. But we’re all just trying to be here for him through it all."
"When you’ve got to deal with tragedies like this, it’s hard as a coach, it’s hard as a friend, it’s hard as a family member, it’s hard for everybody. But we spend a lot of time with each other, and that’s what’s cool about a football team," Shanahan further added.

Trent Williams' wife Sondra penned down a heartbreaking note revealing demise of stillborn son

On Sunday, Sondra Williams took to her Instagram and broke the news of her stillborn son, who was born 35 weeks. Sondra shared an Instagram reel that recapped her emotional pregnancy journey. In the caption, Sondra wrote:

"As much as I tried to prepare myself for our meeting, I wasn’t prepared nor would I ever be. After losing your twin early in the pregnancy, I prayed and hoped that your diagnosis of Trisomy 13 wasn’t true and wouldn’t be the fate of my long awaited beautiful Son-shine. My firstborn and only son, I’ve always wanted you, but God wanted and needed you more."

"I am grateful to God for the time I shared with you. Madison loved listening to your heartbeat and watching your waves of movement in my tummy. Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr., my sweet baby boy, we love you our Forever Angel! TJ My Forever Son-Shine November 24,2024," Sondra concluded.

Amidst the emotional battle of son's demise, Trent Williams was listed as inactive for Bills vs 49ers last week. After a 35-10 loss to the Bills, the 49ers would be looking forward to retaining themselves in the upcoming clash against the Bears. So far it's unconfirmed if Williams would make his return in the Week 14 clash.
