4x All-Pro WR claims Dolphins "haven't been the same" since Tyreek Hill was controversially detained

Tyreek Hill is the driving force of the Dolphins unit. However, "Cheetah" has been subdued this season, contributing minimally to the team’s outings. This has led to the Miami Dolphins going on a three-game losing streak. Four-time All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown believes Hill’s controversial detainment earlier this season is to blame.

On Sept. 8, Hill was detained by the Miami Police just before the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The WR’s incident with the police gained a lot of publicity and controversy regarding policing standards. However, 2021 Super Bowl winner Brown credits this moment as the turning point for Hill’s performances.

Brown took to X (formerly Twitter) and seemingly compared Hill to the 2003 "Radio" film’s protagonist, played by Cuba Gooding Jr. In the film, Gooding Jr.’s character is a mentally challenged man who strives to become a better member of the community through football.

“Dolphins haven’t been the same since this day.”

Hill registered seven catches for 130 yards and one touchdown in the game on the day of his arrest. However, after that Hill managed to get 10 catches for 80 yards and no TDs in the next three games.

This led to the Dolphins losing all three games, which adds to Brown’s theory. However, this string of poor performances by Hill and the team could also be attributed to missing their starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Tyreek Hill could have his partner back on the field

Since Tagovailoa’s injury in the Week 2 game, the Dolphins have played three quarterbacks and haven’t gained success. However, as per ESPN, Tagovailoa is on track to make a return to the gridiron. While many have suggested retirement for the QB, reports state that Tagovailoa is on track to play his first eligible game in Week 8.

The Dolphins will be on the road for their Week 5 fixture against the New England Patriots. With Tua’s absence and a rotating chair in the QB spot, much of the responsibility to make the competitive will be on the shoulders of Hill.

The Dolphins at the Patriots will kick off at 1 pm ET at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, October 6.
