4x Pro Bowler Michael Vick predicts Lamar Jackson will "shatter" his record

Michael Vick's bold declaration about Lamar Jackson suggests an imminent breakthrough in the quarterback rushing record that he has long held.

A transformative QB, Vick revolutionized the NFL with his running prowess. Jackson continues this legacy, emerging as a dynamic playmaker for the Baltimore Ravens.

On Wednesday, Vick claimed on the "Kickin It With Dee" show that Jackson would emphatically beat his record.

"He is going to shatter that record," Vick said.

Jackson needs just 173 yards to surpass Vick's 6,109-yard rushing record. He has already compiled 5,936 rushing yards and has led the Baltimore Ravens in rushing for five consecutive seasons since 2019.

Lamar Jackson's recent performance tells an intriguing story. During Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Jackson recorded over 300 yards of total offense but was still frustrated.

"We're beating ourselves out there," Jackson said after the game.

This season, Jackson has continued to evolve. Under Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken's system, his carries have dropped to a career-low 9.25 per game last year. In 2024, his stats are excellent. Jackson has thrown for 3,290 yards with 29 touchdowns and just three interceptions. On the ground, he has accumulated 678 yards and three scores.

Football analyst Warren Sharp believes Jackson could be even more effective.

"He needs to take advantage of his God-given ability," Sharp said on Wednesday.

He suggested that Jackson should run more, especially in critical game moments.

Jackson's mother has been his harshest critic. After the Eagles game, she reportedly pointed out running lanes he missed.

"She said there were lanes I should have [taken] and ran," Jackson said.

Ravens coach Todd Monken praised Jackson's leadership on Wednesday.

"The players love to play with Lamar because he's highly competitive," Monken said. "He's such a good dude."

Despite the record within reach, Jackson remains focused on the bigger prize. The record would be a bonus, not the primary goal.

"I'm trying to get a Super Bowl," Jackson said in August.

The potential record-breaking moment represents more than personal achievement. It symbolizes Jackson's evolution as a QB who can dominate both through the air and on the ground, continuing the legacy Vick started years ago.
