5 things you probably didn't know about Eli Manning's wife Abby McGrew
Eli Manning has been married to his college sweetheart Abby McGrew for nearly a decade and a half. Over time, she has been the rock on which Eli's career has flourished. While his exploits on the field have naturally captured the hearts of NFL fans, those closer to the former New York Giants quarterback know of the importance his wife has in life.
Here are some quick facts that you may not know about her.
Abby McGrew: more than just Eli Manning's wife
#1 - The pair met in college
Both Eli Manning and Abby McGrew attended the University of Mississippi. Eli is the youngest son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and the brother of star quarterback Peyton Manning. She had her family back in Nashville, Tennessee. When Abby was a freshman, Eli was a junior in college. They went out on a few dates before deciding to become a couple.
#2 - Marriage after winning the Super Bowl
They married in 2008, just months after Eli Manning won his first Super Bowl and won the Super Bowl MVP award in Super Bowl XLII. The wedding took place at Palmilla resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. Guests were given "Super Bowl" chocolate rings by the groomsmen. They had their first dance as a couple to Elton John’s ‘Your Song’.
#3 - Part of Eli's superstition
Eli Manning never wanted Abby McGrew to be near the family suites during games. She'd been in the suites a few times before, and the results had not been good. As a result, she always chose to sit in cheaper and colder seats to watch her husband play, hoping that her sacrifice would result in his victory.
#4 - Mother of four children
That is hardly the biggest sacrifice she has made for her family. She is the rock on which the family has been built. While Eli furthered his career, she became the devoted mother to four children with him. They have three daughters and one son. Ava Francis Manning was born in 2011 followed by Lucy Thomas in 2013. Their youngest daughter Caroline Olivia was born in 2015. They welcomed their youngest child and only son in 2019 and named him Charles Elisha.
#5 - Interest in fashion and real estate
After leaving college, she moved to New York and worked for designer Pamela Roland in New York. She mainly designed wedding dresses and evening gowns. With Eli, Abby McGrew is also interested in prime and historic real estate properties. They have an $8.5-million, 7,000-square-foot home on a 1.2-acre beachside lot in the Hamptons town of Quogue, the same town where Liz Taylor and Richard Burton once lived and where Michael J. Fox still lives.
