7 months after ACL tear, 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk reflects on knee injury recovery

Brandon Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL and MCL in October 2024 when the San Francisco 49ers took on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. The Niners lost more than just the game that day after it ended 28-18 in favor of Patrick Mahomes & co.

Aiyuk suffered the injury in the final moments of the second quarter. The WR made a 15-yard reception but crashed into a couple of the Chiefs' defensive players. Reflecting on his injury seven months after the incident, the 27-year-old uploaded a story on Instagram today.

The WR was captured in the stands of the 49ers' home ground, Levi's Stadium. In the caption of his story, Aiyuk wrote:

Brandon Aiyuk seems to be on the path of recovery. However, the team hasn't provided an update on his return yet.

San Francisco 49ers' General Manager John Lynch called Brandon Aiyuk an important part of the team

Brandon Aiyuk is looking to make a strong comeback next season. Even though there is still uncertainty about him being part of the squad in Week 1, the Niners' general manager, John Lynch, believes that the WR will be a key player for the team.

“Brandon’s doing a tremendous job coming back," Lynch said on "The Pat McAfee Show". "These guys that are incredibly skilled athletes, they tend to heal a lot faster. It’s kind of incredible how well he’s healing, and he’s putting in the work. We’re proud of Brandon, and we’re looking forward to him being part of this team moving forward."

He added:

"We made a big investment in him. We’re proud to have him part of our franchisen and looking for big things from him. And we’re gonna let him get right before we get him back on that field. But he’s an important part of this team.”

The San Francisco 49ers are set to kick off the 2025 NFL season against the Seattle Seahawks on September 7.
