80 for Brady box office collection: Tom Brady's latest movie a massive successÂ
Tom Brady may have retired from the National Football League, but that doesn't mean that he hasn't already found success in another career field.
The motion picture "80 for Brady" premiered in movie theaters last week and was an instant success. That should come as no shock, as it involves the seven-time Super Bowl winning quarterback.
NFL Insider Dov Kleiman Tweeted that "80 for Brady" finished second in its opening weekend with $12.7 million and was shown in nearly 4,000 movie theaters across the country.
According to Kleiman, the motion picture has scored a 90% approval rating according to Rotten Tomatoes. The movie's plot surrounds four senior ladies who have been best friends for most of their lives.
The ladies travel across the country to watch Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl and documents some of the adventures they have along the way.
The movie features some of Hollywood's greatest actresses: Sally Field, Rita Moreno, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. Brady's former teammate, tight end Rob Gronkowksi, also made an appearance in the movie.
Tom Brady gives start date for upcoming FOX broadcasting job
Tom Brady signed a ten-year contract with FOX Sports last spring to work as a commentator covering NFL games.
The deal was said to start when he officially retired from the National Football League. Now that he announced his retirement again last week, this time apparently for good, the speculation around his next endeavor has been the topic of conversation.
On Monday, he told Colin Cowherd on "The Herd" radio show that he plans to start working with FOX Sports in the fall of 2024. That means fans will have to wait about 19 months till they see him make his debut in the booth.
He told Cowherd that he plans to use this time and spend it with family and preparing and learning for his new gig. The 45-year-old said that as with everything he does, he wants to be well prepared and do a good job so he will use this time to do just that. He said:
"So, even in the future I want to be great at what I do, and that always takes some time and strategizing and learning and growing and evolving."
The former NFL quarterback's deal with FOX Sports is for ten years and is reportedly worth $375 million. Greg Olsen will continue to call games alongside Kevin Burkhardt till then. That will also leave the lingering issue of where Olsen will call games in 2024.
