8x NBA All-Star predicts Randy Moss-like fate for Davante Adams after stunning Jets trade
Las Vegas Riders' Davante Adams was finally traded after he requested a trade earlier this season. The wide receiver reunites with quarterback Aaron Rodgers after being traded to the Jets this morning for a third-round pick.
This is a big move as the Jets now have another wide receiver who will line up opposite Garrett Wilson. Many around the league felt the Jets should be a much better team for Adams.
The trade has even surprised people and athletes outside of the football world. NBA star and Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard reacted to the news on X, formerly Twitter.
"Now watch Tae go do a Randy Moss in New England smh," Lillard tweeted.
Randy Moss joined the Patriots in Year 10 of his NFL career, coming over from the Oakland Raiders. He set a record in the 2007 season when he caught 23 touchdown passes from Tom Brady. That's still a single-season record to this day.
Moss flourished with Brady and the Patriots for the three full seasons he was there. Lillard thinks that in Year 11, Adams and Rodgers can replicate similar success that Moss achieved later in his career.
Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams have had a ton of success with one another
Davante Adams had to be traded to the New York Jets or the New Orleans Saints to reunite with Aaron Rodgers or Derek Carr. He eventually reunited with Rodgers.
The duo had a ton of success with one another in Green Bay from 2014-2021. Adams had three seasons of over 1,000 yards and five seasons scoring 10 or more touchdowns in Green Bay.
As a member of Green Bay, and with Rodgers throwing him the ball, Adams was named to two First-Team All-Pro selections and five Pro Bowls.
Rodgers won four MVPs when Adams was a member of the Packers. He was selected as an All-Pro five times and Pro Bowler 10 times with Adams.
With Adams joining New York, it will be interesting to see if the two can pick up where they left off in 2021, where Rodgers won an MVP in Green Bay with Adams as the main target.
