Aaron Jones injury update: Latest on Vikings RB for Fantasy Football Week 15
Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones has been a great signing for their backfield this season. After the team moved on from Dalvin Cook last season and extended Alexander Mattison for two more years, they decided to move on from Mattison after the 2023-24 season.
Needing a starting running back, the Vikings made the bold move to sign Jones this offseason, who had been with their rivals, the Green Bay Packers, for the previous seven seasons.
Jones signed a one-year deal worth up to $7 million. He's been active for all 13 games this season and has been a big help to Minnesota's offense.
Aaron Jones injury update: Will Vikings RB play Monday against Bears?
Jones has played all 13 games this season for the Minnesota Vikings. While he has been banged up, Jones has been active for every game this season.
Jones has dealt with hip, hamstring, chest, and rib issues at some point this season. Heading into the Vikings' Week 15 matchup against division rival Chicago Bears, Jones once popped up on the team's injury report with a back issue.
Jones was listed as a limited participant during Thursday's practice due to this new injury. There's no word on how serious the issue is, but it something to monitor over the next few days. Luckily for Jones, he will have an extra day to recover as the Vikings play Monday night.
Jones still a productive running back in eighth season
Running backs in the NFL don't produce as consistently deeper into their career due to how much punishment the position regularly takes. Jones is an outlier.
He's been productive for Minnesota in his eighth season. Jones has rushed the ball 197 times for 893 yards and four touchdowns. He's also caught 37 balls for 302 yards and two touchdowns. Altogether, he has 1,195 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns.
If Jones remains healthy and plays the rest of the season, he's on pace to rush for 1,167 yards. He is set to become a free agent this offseason and will garner widespread interest if the Minnesota Vikings don't re-sign him.
