Aaron Rodgers admits being forced to eat the "humble" pie after Jets fall to 3-7
Amid a rough 2024 NFL season for the New York Jets, quarterback Aaron Rodgers made an admission about how he's dealt with losses and setbacks. The veteran opened up on his journey this season after the Jets dropped to 3-7 following a 31-6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10.
During a Tuesday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers talked about his approach after suffering embarrassing losses, saying that nothing has changed in terms of preparation.
"You do what you know how to do, you get back to work. Preparation stays the same... I've been doing this a long time and the preparation stays the same, focus stay the same. I think you gotta handle it with humillity--It's been a lot of pies to be eating around here this year, flavored humble."
"But you gotta hold onto that beautiful thing in life called 'hope'. There is a chance; we're not mathematically eliminated."
After snapping a five-game losing streak with their Week 9 win over the Houston Texans, the Jets were dominated by the Cardinals, only scoring six points. Rodgers threw for 151 yards and the only points the team scored came thanks to Spencer Shrader's field goals.
Although they aren't mathematically eliminated, the competition in the AFC is strong and perhaps a 10-7 or 9-8 record won't make the cut for a wild-card spot. The Chiefs are still undefeated (9-0), while the Bills (8-2) and Steelers (7-2) have only lost two games. The Chargers and Ravens each have three losses.
New York could still make it to the postseason, but the Jets need to start getting wins before the season becomes unsalvageable.
Rodgers' former teammate thinks Jets season isn't over yet
Despite their 3-7 record, the Jets remain hopeful that they can work something out to secure a playoff berth. Rodgers' former teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling thinks that as long as the Jets have Rodgers on the roster, they have a shot against anybody in the league.
"With that guy, you always got a shot," Valdes-Scantling said and referred to Rodgers as “the best to ever play this game at the quarterback position.”
The Jets will face the Colts, Seahawks, Dolphins, Jaguars, Rams, Bills and Dolphins to close out the season. They'll likely have to win out or lose just once the rest of the way to have a chance at the playoffs.
