Aaron Rodgers backs Graham Hancock's Sphinx conspiracy theory after Egypt trip

Graham Hancock has found a new backer for his theories after Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers' trip to Egypt made him a convert to some of the hypotheses that the British writer espouses. The NFL star missed the mandatory minicamp on a pre-planned trip to the home of the pyramids and has come in with various views that he shared with Kay Adams. He said,

"I saw a lot of the temples, obviously pyramids, Sphinx that was at the end of the trip... Well, he (Graham Hancock) believes that the age of the Sphinx is much older than they tell us. So I'm definitely in the Mr. West and Graham Hancock, theories about that."

Aaron Rodgers also recommended that people should visit in person as it would lead them to form some interesting opinions.

"Also, when you go over there, it gives you some interesting opinions about how those things are actually made, where the rocks came from, the size of the rocks, the cuts in the rocks. Something you should go see in person."

Graham Hancock has previously expressed his admiration for Aaron Rodgers

Graham Hancock and Aaron Rodgers might now find a common cause on Sphinxes in Egypt but they have shared mutual admiration going back some time. The British writer's book "Fingerprints of the Gods" was among the recommended books that the quarterback put forward in a show with Pat McAfee.

That is where he talked about his Ayahuasca use as well, which found a receptive audience with Hancock. At the time, he wrote,

"8-minute interview with NFL Quarterback @AaronRodgers12. It's frank and deep. He discusses the changes that Ayahuasca has made in his life and very kindly (7 mins 34 secs forward) recommends my book Fingerprints of the Gods. Thank you Aaron!"

However, while the appreciation between Aaron Rodgers and Graham Hancock might be strong, Jets fans will be hoping all of this does not become a distraction. The trip to Egypt already proved problematic because the player missed the mandatory minicamp and led the Jets head coach to call his absence unexcused.

Given his age, the New York franchise took a huge gamble on him to lead the organization to Super Bowl glory. Last year, an unlucky Achilles injury led him to miss the entire season. They will be hoping he comes back fit this year and keeps his head down to get them over the line. The quarterback's dream destination might be Egypt for long-suffering Jets fans it is winning the Super Bowl.
