Aaron Rodgers' biographer reveals if 4x MVP will enter politics post NFL career
Aaron Rodgers is known for his unfiltered takes on a variety of controversial topics. That said, his biographer, Ian O'Connor, mentioned the quarterback’s connection to and future in politics.
In May this year, reports suggested that independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had shortlisted Rodgers to be his VP pick. The New York Jets QB later stated he declined the job because it would have meant his football retirement.
Even RFK Jr. opened up about his choice of A-Rod for this important position. Now, Ian O'Connor, the author of ‘Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers,’ shared his take on A-Rod’s future in politics in an interview with NBC.
“Aaron Rodgers the politician ... I think we'll never see that," said O’Connor. "We'll never know it because he was never considering that job ... It was choosing unemployment over high-paid employment. I don't think anybody would make that choice.
“They were getting blown out in the election, whether he was on that ticket or not. There was no way he was giving up a final two seasons or so of his career, a final chance to win another ring.”
As per the author, Aaron Rodgers will stay close to football and keep sharing his takes on politics without ever entering himself.
What will Aaron Rodgers do after retirement?
Many had suspected A-Rod would gravitate toward the political arena once he hung his cleats. However, his biographer not only denied those claims but also highlighted a possible career path for the 2011 Super Bowl winner in his interview with NBC.
“So, I don't think he'll go into politics," said O’Connor. “I actually think, despite what he says, he'll end up in a network booth as an analyst.”
However, he stated that Rodgers is still at least two or more years away, as the 40-year-old’s quest for another Super Bowl ring is still active.
