When Aaron Rodgers' biographer revealed why he 'traded' LeBron James for 4x NFL MVP
Aaron Rodgers' biography, written by Ian O'Connor, will be out in a week. The book called "Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers" is set to be released on Aug. 20.
In an interview with Awful Announcing in March, O'Connor explained why he wrote the book about the polarizing New York Jets quarterback. He also revealed why there was some sort of a "trade" for the book that was supposed to be written about LeBron James:
"I was under contract to do a book on LeBron James. There had been a few books done on LeBron, including a fairly recent one. At the same time, Aaron Rodgers got traded into my backyard.
"I’ve been in the New York market my whole life. So, when that happened, I thought he was a compelling and mysterious figure. I just thought there really had never been a defining book on his career and life. So, I made the switch over to Rodgers to explain to people who he is and why he is the way he is."
Rodgers played just four snaps in New York during the 2023 season before going down for the year with an Achilles injury, which dashed the Jets' dreams of making the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
Aaron Rodgers' 2024 season will be one of redemption
Rodgers was traded by the Green Bay Packers after a decade and a half with the team, but just one Super Bowl win, which left scars late into their relationship. Going to the Jets was a chance to prove himself once again in a bigger market, but disaster struck quickly.
The Jets have one of the best rosters in the NFL and are looking to finally break their playoff drought since the Rex Ryan days. With Rodgers as their leader, they are expected to fight for a place in the postseason.
