Aaron Rodgers defends Mike McCarthy from Micah Parsons' comments about not working hard enough

Mike McCarthy's professional relationship with Aaron Rodgers did not end on the greatest terms in 2018, but the coach has a loyal friend.

Rodgers has a huge personality, which sometimes ruffles a few feathers around the league and the fans. But the New York Jets quarterback is known to be extremely loyal to people around him, whether that's with former teammates or even his coaches.

The current roster of the New York Jets is a perfect reflection. The quarterback recruited Davante Adams, Allen Lazard, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and, in 2023, even Randall Cobb was part of the team. All of them worked with Rodgers during his years with the Green Bay Packers, which became a bit of a running joke among analysts.

Now, with Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy under fire, Rodgers came to his defense during his weekly appearance at Pat McAfee's show. McCarthy was his head coach for 13 years with the Packers, and they won Super Bowl XLV together, so the quarterback publicly defended him.

I love Mike. I love Mike. 13 incredible years together, so I ain't got much to say besides that, man. Mike's my boy. I love Mike. And, you know, sometimes some people say things - shit, I've said a lot of things. I won't say back. I'd like to sit back but hold on to that one. If anybody can handle that down there, it's Big Mike. Big Mike is built for, he's built for adversity," Rodgers said.

McCarthy has a 45-31 record in Dallas, but his team is 3-6 in 2024 and he's in danger of losing his job after the season. Quarterback Dak Prescott is out for the season with a hamstring injury.

What's the record of Mike McCarthy in the playoffs with the Cowboys?

In his fifth season in charge of the team, the head coach has a 1-3 record in the postseason. He won the division twice, and amassed three straight seasons with a 12-5 record, but failed to progress further.

The Dallas Cowboys are the most popular team in the NFL, but they have not made the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 season, the last time they won a Super Bowl ring. After three straight playoff failures and a down season in 2024, expectations from a wide number of analysts is that McCarthy will not get a new shot in 2025.
